Let’s go Shopping part 3…

This week our last group of ten children went off to Sainsburys with a list of ingredients to buy. The children decided what they wanted to make and made a shopping list. Then on Tuesday the ten Swans went by mini bus to Sainsburys to buy the healthy ingredients needed to make a cheesy pasta bake.

They looked around the supermarket at the different healthy and unhealthy foods. They found different numbers and tricky words on labels and signs around the shop. Then they found the ingredients needed.

The children payed for the goods at the self-checkout.

After buying their goods the children caught the number 50 bus back to school.

Once back at school the children shared their outing and what they had bought with the rest of the class.

Then the children that had been shopping grated the cheese, placed the pasta into the saucepan, poured the milk into the pan and added the sweetcorn.

Once the pasta bake was made Miss Jones spooned it into cups with a fork for everyone to try. Some of the children thought it was yummy, wanting seconds and others not so much!

Let’s go Shopping part 2…

This week our second group of ten children went off to Sainsburys with a list of ingredients to buy. The children decided what they wanted to make and made a shopping list. Then on Tuesday the ten Swans went by mini bus to Sainsburys to buy the healthy ingredients needed to make vegetable soup.

They looked around the supermarket at the different healthy and unhealthy foods. They found different numbers and tricky words on labels and signs around the shop. Then they found the ingredients needed. The children picked out the vegetables and stock that was needed.

The children payed for the goods at the self-checkout.

After buying their goods the children caught the number 50 bus back to school.

Once back at school the children shared their outing and what they had bought with the rest of the class.

Then the children that had been shopping prepared the vegetables for the soup. They peeled and sliced the vegetables and placed them in the saucepan with the vegetable stock. Some went into the soup maker.

Once the soup was made Ms Andrews poured it into cups for everyone to try. Some of the children thought it was yummy and others not so much!

Let’s go shopping…

As part of our healthy eating topic we have been looking at different fruits and thinking about something healthy we could make to eat. The children decided what they wanted to make and made a shopping list of ingredients to buy. Then on Tuesday a group of ten Swans went by mini bus to Sainsburys to buy the healthy ingredients needed to make fruit kebabs and a fruit smoothie.

We looked around the supermarket at the different healthy and unhealthy foods. We found different numbers and tricky words on labels and signs around the shop. Then we found the ingredients we needed. The children picked out what was needed and payed for the goods at the self-checkout.

After buying our goods we then caught the number 50 bus back to school.

Once back at school we shared our outing and what we had bought with the rest of the class.

Then the children that had been shopping prepared the fruit for the kebabs and the smoothie. They peeled and sliced the fruit and put it onto plates. Then they made their own kebab. Once they had made their kebab the rest of the children came and made theirs too.

Once all the kebabs were made the children got to eat them.

The next day we made the fruit smoothie. Ms Andrews put the fruit, the vanilla yoghurt and milk into the blender. She poured it into cups for everyone to try. Some of the children thought it was yummy and others not so much!
